In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
This is the link to my video-
I have a few inspirations for my music video, i got many of my ideas from these videos, here are the links-
Beautiful- Christina Aguilera -This influenced me alot because she is trying to get across the same message as me in the music video that i have created i feel that this is my main influence because of the shot that have been taken in this video.
Unpretty- TLC - This music video and lyrics for the song influenced me alot when making my music video as it is saying that you are fine with the way that you look already and you need to stop other people telling you what they think that you should look like, and that it is important that you just accept the way that you are and that you should do anything stupid to yourself because at the end of the day its no going to make you feel any better about yourself, although it may do at the time, it wont in the long run.

My influences-
This was my main influence because i really liked the way that they had put the artist taking up the whole if one side of the cover and the writing is reasonably small in one of the corners,i have decided to use the idea of having the artist taking up quite alot of the space on the cover, i have also got my artist on the left hand side of it too because when i took the pictures i felt that you could see the expressions in her face alot more than if she was facing the other way,i really wanted to get as much of her face in the picture as i could because i want the audience to be able to connect with her and what she is thinking and the message that she is trying to get across.
This influenced me in the way that they have used a white background, i decided to use this idea because i feel that it brings out the main image alot more than if it was colourful and in-your-face, although using colours would have made my album cover eye catching i believe that by having it white does just the same but also with a but of sophistication.

I think that my media product challenges other media products because you dont normally see the reality in music videos nowadays, as they are all very happy and up beat, you never actually see what is going on in the media and i believe that because my video has got some images in that you wouldn't normally see in music videos like smoking and being leant over a toilet, this is challenging real media products because it could go against my music video but i think that people should know what actually does happen in the real world and not what people just see in the foreground and not the background of people loosing weight, for example all the aches and pains that models and celebrities have to go through to get to where they are now and all the things that they put themselves through mentally and physically.
The record company that i am going to be signed to is J records, this is a link to their homepage: J Records, this is a huge recording company, i would want to be signed by this company because they are very well known and they have signed many famous artists, i think i would fit in well with the people that they have signed because they are mostly R&B and Pop singers, and i believe that this type of song (The Voice Within-Christina Aguilera) fits into that R&B/Pop category.
My music video will mainly be shown on the music channel FLAVA and Kiss, this is because from watching these usic channels their preferred genre of music of R&B, and because i think that this song fits into this category, i think it would be best shown on these music channels. After it has been played and viewed many times on these music channels i hope that it slowly fills into other music channels like VIVA, 4music and MTV.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
I think that they all connect really well as i have used the same brand identity as the artist on the front of my CD cover and magazine advertisement is the same that i have used in my music video, i thought that it was very important to do this because she is the one that is going to be well known by my audience as a pop artist. Another thing is that she is a very pretty young girl and i think that the male gender will want to watch my product to see her and girls will want to see it because they will look up to her, this is a good thing because it shows that my audience is being represented and understood. Another thing is that all the colours that i have used are all roughly the same, i have used different shades of pinks and white in both of my ancillaries and also the video for instance the room that the character is in quite alot of the time is different shades of pink.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The feedback that i got was very useful to begin with and i based my music video around what people had told me that they wanted to see within it.
I also went into a class of 15/16 year olds that were studying eating disorders at the time to see what they would like to see within my music video and they told me that they would like to see someone trying to eat and then pushing it away, i did do this in my video and i felt like it works really well with the narrative.
After i had created my music video i went back to the class to show them how they're ideas had helped me create my product, this is what they said about it-
-"Smoking should be shown in music video's but should let people know that is a bad thing to be doing and not something that people should get addicted to"- they think that i portrayed this by having my actor coughing after she had inhaled it, they thought that this was good because it shows that it isnt good for you to inhale it.
-They thought that my narrative was good and that i kept to my storyline, they thought that the research that i had done had shown my idea really well and the way that i kept the same pace (although slow) throughout my music video was good because it can be hard on a slow song to loose interest in what is happening whereas they all said ( by a show of hands,apart from 2 boys) that they wanted to watch it all right to the end to see what happens through to the end.
- They said that the camera lies about what people look like in the real world (as shown in my research) as all models and celebrities have alot of make-up on and have all been airbrushed making people believe that they look like this every day when they have had lots of editing done to them.
- It is obvious to them what the storyline is and what is happening all the way through this music video.
- The footage that i have featured within my film they all said was strong and effective with the image of my actor leaning over the toilet and sitting on the bench on her own.
I posted a status on the social networking site 'Facebook' asking people what they would like to see within my music video and got very good feedback, here is a link to the post-
I have also set up an online poll on my blog to ask people what they think about my music video, the feedback that i have got from this has helped me with future ideas if i was to create a music video again.
How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I used new media technology (NMT) throughout the process of making my music video and ancillaries, i used it when doing my research by using things like google- images, youtube and blogging (web 2.0), this all helped me to decide what my music was going to be about because during my research i found that there wasn't really alot telling people what NOT to do when it comes to eating disorders. When doing my planning i used many links on the internet all stemmed from google, i recorded things on my iPhone and took many pictures for my blog on it too, i used iTunes and youtube to help me decide what track i was going to use for my music video and i used a digital camera. When i was filming and editing my music video i was using a video camera and to edit all of my footage i was using iPlayer- at first i found it really hard to use and i didnt think that i was going to be able to use it throught the whole time that i needed to edit my film, i wanted to know if there was another, more simpler version that i could have used but after a while i got used to using it and i am now glad that i stuck to it. When burning my music video onto a DVD i used iDVD, this process was simple and although it took quite a long time to do it works well (which is the main thing). During writing this evaluation i have commented about the use of social networking sites that i have used and the online polls that i have created in order to get feedback for my media product.

CD cover-
This is the original picture that i used-
After i had edited this picture, i needed to decide where i was going to put the AMELIA, it was between 2 options, this was the first option-
And the one that i chose was the one that is featured on my CD cover-
After i had worked out where i was going to put AMELIA, i needed to work out where to put 'The Voice Within', i tried many different places, here are the different places where i could have put it-
I decided that i didnt really like where i had put it on any of these so i decided to put it below the A and the M of AMELIA, this worked really well and finished off my CD cover, this is my final CD cover-
This is how my final product looks, i am really happy with the way that it turned out as before the image was very dark and didnt look very interesting, i have lightened it up by putting more radiant colours in it like the white background.I think that this CD cover goes very well with the kind of album i am trying to advertise, it shows the artist (Amelia) as a very happy person, and this is what the album is, happy.
I think that this is an eye-catching CD cover and i think that if i walked past it in a shop then i would take a second look at it.
Back of CD-
This is the original picture that i used-
I didnt really do anything to make this look different for the back of my CD cover, the only thing that i have done to make this different is got rid of the shadow that you can see around her right shoulder.
I added this bar code to the bottom of the back of my CD cover, this is for the distribution of my CD, it is important that i have featured this somewhere on the album cover because without this no-one can buy it.
This is the final product of the back of my CD cover- I am really happy with the way that this has turned out considering i didnt edit it that much, i didnt want to edit it too much because i wanted her to look different to what she does on the front of the CD cover.
Another thing is that it is nice to see music artists when they are looking natural because it doesn't happen that often and also it connects with the message that my music video is trying to get across of you not having to wear make-up to look pretty.

At the beginning i didnt really know what to do for a magazine advertisement so i typed it into Google images and many different things came up, this is the one that caught my eye because i am mainly aiming my music video at the female gender so the pink works really well. I also like the way that the girl is positioned in the middle of the page. I feel that this magazine advertisement is eye catching because of the colours and it makes you want to know more about the product that is being advertised.

Dove campaign for REAL women
Throughout research i have found out more about the dove advert, this is such an interesting story. Here is the link to a dove advert: Dove- Deodorant advert
This 33 second video manages to send across the message that they are trying to get REAL women to star in their adverts, i think that this is a very good thing to be doing without any editing or airbrushing, because all the adverts that do use these 'cheating' methods send across the wrong message. The message they Dove are trying to get across is to celebrate and accept 'the natural physical variation embodied by all women' and they intend to 'inspire women to have the confidence to be comfortable with themselves and the way that they look'.
I have found a campaigning video that Dove has done to show how we can be fooled by editing and airbrushing, even make-up!- Dove- Evolution. I think that this is a really strong message that they are trying to get across to us because when we see people like this (the end result) we believe that they actually look like this when in face they look very different to this, it is almost becoming normality for us to be seeing women and models looking like this and we don't even think about what they look like before they have had all the make-up on and before the pictures have been edited.

I created a status asking my friends on the social networking site of 'Facebook' to find out what they would like to see in my music video.

Megan Barrett If i were to make a music video about how a girl feels about herself, what type of things would you expect to see on it?
I found that doing this was a very good way of finding out what people would want to see within my music video, as there is a few suggestions that i think would portray my idea well i will be using these, for instance having the girl looking through a load of fashion magazines, having the girl look at herself in the mirror with things written on it and another thing that i liked was having the girl standing in the middle of a load of people walking past, i think this is a really good idea because it gives off the image that she is almost invisible to everyone else and she is trying to get herself seen by everyone that is walking past her.
